Rytec Corporation has introduced the new Ry-Wi™ Wireless System--their next generation of “smart” wireless technology to ensure continuous up-time and safer operation of their roll doors. Most roll door manufacturers incorporate safety features to convey signals to the door controller when a door panel is impacted. While coil cords are still utilized for special applications, the industry has turned to wireless technology to eliminate the possibility of tangled cords and reduce the maintenance of this safety device. Unfortunately, conventional wireless systems are not only susceptible to signal interference, they are relatively fragile and rely on low-power sensing before signifying a battery should be replaced.

“The original systems couldn’t be placed too far from the door, couldn’t handle the cold and had issues with other wireless devices or RFID. Plus, people think anything that requires a battery requires too much attention. We’ve designed the new Ry-Wi system to eliminate all these challenges,” says Scott Haipek, Rytec Electrical Design Engineer.

The Ry-Wi™ system employs directional antennae, frequency controls and “frequencyhopping” technology to eliminate signal interference and cross talk. The system is selfcontained on every door enabling the System 3® control box to be mounted in a remote location. Unlike conventional low-power indicators, the “smart” system anticipates utilization based on cycle analysis and then indicates the need for battery replacement before the low power is ever detected. The heavy-duty hardware is engineered to operate in virtually all temperatures and weather conditions—rain, fog, sleet and snow.
