Since it’s inception in 1985, Rytec remains the only company in the United States focused exclusively on designing and manufacturing high performance doors. Because Rytec innovations drive the door industry, tracking its pioneering history is not unlike tracking the history of the high-speed door itself.
Rytec’s initial growth in the 1980’s can be partially attributed to America’s need to conserve energy and improve efficiency. To fill this need, Rytec’s introduced the revolutionary Fast-Fold® door in 1985, forever changing the door industry.
In the 1990s Rytec’s business expanded significantly with the introduction of the BreakAway™ bottom bar. With the break-away feature, doors could take a hit and be reset without incurring expensive repair bills or suffering costly downtime. In 1996, Rytec doors proved so popular, a corporate headquarters and manufacturing plant was built in Jackson, Wisconsin. The plant has since expanded to twice the original size to meet the growing demand for Rytec doors.
Today, Rytec innovations continue to drive the high-speed door market. Breakthrough technologies introduced in the Fast-Fold® door, the Spiral® HZ hurricane zone door, and the Clean-Roll® set the benchmark for speed and performance, and drive the industry forward.

Because high performance doors are our only business, we’re able to streamline the research and development process. Our in-house engineering team imagines, invents, tests, and retests our doors in a process of continuous improvement. Whether they’re intended for a cold storage warehouse in a warm climate or a biotech facility in a hurricane zone, new door developments begin with a deep understanding of the operational environment and business application.
Our exclusive wind tunnel laboratory simulates wind and high pressure environments for door testing, research and development. Our doors are proven to exceed performance requirements in even the harshest conditions.
