A Smarter Standard for Fleet Wash Doors

Rytec Fleet Wash Doors

When it comes to wash facilities for vehicle fleets and oversized heavy equipment, operating demands extend beyond those of typical car washes. These environments require doors designed for larger openings, longer wash cycles, and direct exposure to high-pressure water, chemicals, and extreme conditions – often while remaining closed during the washing process. High-performance doors are engineered to meet these demands, delivering the durability, corrosion resistance, and structural integrity required for reliable performance in fleet and heavy‑equipment wash operations.

That’s where high-performance doors come in.

Unlike conventional overhead doors, high-performance doors are engineered to withstand the unique challenges of large-scale wash operations, so your fleet can keep moving to get the job done. However, there are several key criteria which should be carefully weighed to ensure proper fit, function and longevity.

Installation Considerations

Fleet wash systems require special installation considerations:

Exterior Mounts. Doors should ideally be exterior-mounted to keep critical components out of direct spray zones, reducing wear and protecting mechanical and electrical systems from constant exposure to water.

Water Separation. Unlike traditional car washes, fleet wash bays often are larger, allowing for greater separation between the door and the primary wash area. Taking advantage of this space can significantly extend the lifespan of the door system and reduce maintenance requirements.

Built to Withstand Harsh Wash Environments

Even though doors are farther away in these large scale wash bays than a typical car wash, water, detergents, and cleaning chemicals still create a highly corrosive environment that can present challenges for doors made with metal components. That’s why door material selection is critical.

Corrosion-resistant. High-performance doors can be equipped with corrosion-resistant components, including stainless steel elements, designed specifically to withstand constant exposure to water and chemicals. . This can help extend the lifespan of doors exposed to wet conditions.

Strong Motors. For extra durability, some door models can be upgraded with an IP65-rated motor that protects against water ingress, ensuring consistent, reliable operation in high-moisture environments.

Tough Materials. Rytec’s high-performance doors are built with tough materials, including a variable-speed AC drive that reduces wear on door parts and puncture-resistant, polymer-impregnated monofilament polyester fabric. In addition, our Quick-Set™ Break-Away™ tabs allow the wireless bottom bar to release in either direction without damaging the door – keeping doors in service even after an impact.

Designed for Oversized Openings. Fleet wash bays often service larger, heavier equipment that requires large doors with wide and tall openings. High-performance doors can be custom manufactured for larger openings to accommodate transit buses, construction equipment and utility fleets.

Speed and Seals

Beyond durability, high-performance doors also play a critical role in maintaining environmental control within the wash bay.

Speed. High-performance doors feature fast opening speeds that help contain water spray, regulate temperature, and reduce air exchange between interior and exterior environments. This is especially important in colder climates, where it’s necessary to keep cold weather outside and move vehicles quickly through the wash.

Seals. High-performance doors feature reliable seals that help prevent water migration into adjacent areas, protecting equipment, improving safety and maintaining overall operations.

Ideal Door Options

Depending on climate, weather extremes, anticipated use volume, and other factors, both fabric roll-up and rigid rolling doors can be suitable for use in a fleet wash setup.

PredaDoor® NXT® features a tight perimeter seal, an advanced wireless safety system, and durable components to provide unsurpassed performance and reliability. Paired with the System 4® door controller, the NXT Quick-Set™ repair system allows the door to be easily reset without tools to minimize door downtime.

Plexline® doors combine the durability of high-performance fiberglass composite with a 3-ply door panel made from tear-resistant vinyl for high-traffic, interior applications where durability and speed are essential. The fiberglass composite materials offer the strength, longevity, and durability of stainless steel at a remarkably low price. It can be built up to 16′ wide x 15′ high to handle large equipment and openings.
